Three Days Grace formed in Toronto in the late 90s and hit their stride in the mid-2000s with a brand of radio-friendly alternative rock that connected with people in genuine pain. Their debut album was solid, but it was "One-X" that cemented them as a legitimate force — that's where "I Hate Everything About You" and "Animal I Have Become" came from, songs about self-destruction and rage that somehow made it onto mainstream rock radio without feeling compromised. They've been remarkably consistent over two decades, releasing albums every few years without chasing trends or trying to reinvent themselves dramatically. If you've ever heard an alternative rock song about depression, self-harm, or emotional damage on the radio between 2005 and 2015, there's a solid chance it was them or it was heavily influenced by them. Adam Gontier left and came back, Matt Walst took over vocals, but the formula held. They're proof that you don't need to be innovative to be effective.

Their shows are legitimately intense. The crowd gets loud, sing-alongs are massive, and there's a real cathartic energy — people are working through something, and Three Days Grace meets them there. They're efficient, professional, rarely bad.

Three Days Grace rolled through Fiserv Forum on March 4th and leaned into the deeper cuts that have defined their catalog. They opened with "It's All Over" before hitting the expected anthems, but the real moments came from "So Called Life" and "The Mountain," songs that showed why they've sustained a devoted following for two decades. "Chalk Outline" hit different live, and closing with "Riot" sent people out exactly how they needed to leave.

Milwaukee's rock scene has always been pragmatic. The city respects bands that show up and do the work without pretense, which suits Three Days Grace fine. They fit somewhere between the metalcore impulses that still linger here and the harder alternative rock that never really left. It's not a scene that chases trends, which works in their favor.

Stay in Whitefish Bay or the East Side — quieter, tree-lined neighborhoods with actual character. Dinner at Colectivo's sister restaurant Odd Duck for inventive local cooking, or hit up Uchi if you want something more refined. Spend your day at the Harley-Davidson Museum if you're into American icons, or walk through the Milwaukee Public Market for the best cross-section of local food producers. The lakefront is worth an afternoon, and if blues is the point of the trip, catch a set at Colectivo or one of the Walnut Street venues while you're in town.
