Three Days Grace formed in Toronto in the late 90s and hit their stride in the mid-2000s with a brand of radio-friendly alternative rock that connected with people in genuine pain. Their debut album was solid, but it was "One-X" that cemented them as a legitimate force — that's where "I Hate Everything About You" and "Animal I Have Become" came from, songs about self-destruction and rage that somehow made it onto mainstream rock radio without feeling compromised.
