About The Wallflowers
The Wallflowers formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s around Jakob Dylan, son of Bob Dylan. Their 1996 debut album brought them massive success, especially with 'One Headlight,' a song that became inescapable in the late 90s and somehow didn't feel like a product of its time. They followed it with 'Bringing Down the Horse,' which solidified them as major players in 90s alternative rock. The band cycled through members over the years, but Dylan kept the project moving through darker periods in the 2000s and a solid comeback in 2012 with 'Glad All Over.' They're solid songwriters who proved they could craft hooks that stick around, even if some people never quite forgave them for being commercially successful.
Straightforward rock shows where people sing along to the hits without irony. Dylan's a steady presence, not a frontman in the theatrical sense. The band locks into songs with real precision. Crowds are mixed ages, lots of people who saw them on MTV back in the day mixed in with younger fans. You get what you pay for: solid rock performance, no unnecessary drama.

The Wallflowers + Philadelphia
The Wallflowers have maintained a quiet presence in Philadelphia over the years, stopping by whenever they're passing through on tour. Their last visit was September 2025 at Xfinity Mobile Arena, where they ran through a setlist that mixed their essentials with deeper cuts. They opened with the instrumental sprawl of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," then pivoted to "Sleepwalker" and "Move the River" before hitting the expected territory of "6th Avenue Heartache" and "One Headlight." What made this particular show worth noting was the inclusion of "The Waiting" and "The Difference"—songs that gave longtime fans something to lean into beyond the hits. Jakob Dylan's band doesn't blow into town looking to reinvent themselves; they're there to remind you why their particular brand of 90s alternative rock still holds up.

Philadelphia's rock lineage runs deep—from the Roots to War on Drugs, the city has always had room for bands that think in layers and aren't afraid of a little restraint. The Wallflowers fit comfortably into that aesthetic: they're not flashy, but they're thoughtful, built on solid songwriting and arrangements that don't rely on flash. In a city that values authenticity over spectacle, that approach resonates.
