About Missio
Missio is the project of Matthew Brock, an alternative rock artist who builds songs around driving synths and introspective lyrics. Based between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, Brock started Missio as a solo venture and developed a sound that straddles indie rock and electronic music. His breakthrough came with tracks like Loverboy, which showcased his ability to craft catchy hooks alongside darker, more cerebral songwriting. Songs like Blackout and Drums Inside display his range—capable of both radio-friendly moments and deeper cuts that reward close listening. Missio's music often explores themes of alienation and inner conflict, wrapped in polished production that's accessible without being watered down.
Missio shows are tight and focused. Brock commands the stage with a deliberate intensity, not much banter. The crowd tends toward engaged listeners rather than casual onlookers. His synths hit hard live, and the energy builds methodically through the set rather than exploding all at once.

Missio + San Antonio
Missio rolled through San Antonio on October 18, 2024, at The Aztec Theatre, bringing their synth-heavy alt-rock to a packed crowd. The band leaned into the moody, electronic side of their catalog, working through tracks that hit hard in a venue built for exactly this kind of intensity. The show had that particular energy Missio brings—dark, propulsive, occasionally hypnotic. They closed strong, leaving the room with the kind of ringing ears and sore throats that suggest the encore landed exactly where it needed to.

Live Music in San Antonio
San Antonio's music landscape has traditionally centered on tejano, conjunto, and country traditions, but the city's alt and indie rock crowds have grown quietly devoted. Venues like The Aztec Theatre have become crucial for acts that blend electronic production with guitar-driven songwriting. Missio fits neatly into that space—synth-forward but not inaccessible, moody but with enough hooks to stick around. The city's younger audiences have shown genuine appetite for this particular flavor of alternative rock.

Stay in Southtown, where the gallery scene and restored Victorian homes give you something real to walk through between dinner reservations at Cured, which does thoughtful Italian-influenced cooking without pretension. Catch the show, then spend the next morning at Pearl Brewery itself—the district's worth an hour of wandering. The Majestic Theatre or the Tobin Center are your likely venues depending on the tour routing. Head to the McNay Art Museum if you've got afternoon time; it's one of the better regional collections in Texas and won't feel like you're wasting daylight.
