About Missio
Missio is the project of Matthew Brock, an alternative rock artist who builds songs around driving synths and introspective lyrics. Based between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, Brock started Missio as a solo venture and developed a sound that straddles indie rock and electronic music. His breakthrough came with tracks like Loverboy, which showcased his ability to craft catchy hooks alongside darker, more cerebral songwriting. Songs like Blackout and Drums Inside display his range—capable of both radio-friendly moments and deeper cuts that reward close listening. Missio's music often explores themes of alienation and inner conflict, wrapped in polished production that's accessible without being watered down.
Missio shows are tight and focused. Brock commands the stage with a deliberate intensity, not much banter. The crowd tends toward engaged listeners rather than casual onlookers. His synths hit hard live, and the energy builds methodically through the set rather than exploding all at once.

Missio + Boston
Missio rolled through Boston on March 10, 2025, at The Sinclair, delivering the kind of set that reminds you why they've carved out their particular corner of indie rock. The synth-heavy production and Matt Shea's unmistakable vocal delivery filled the room with tracks that hit harder in person than they do on record. There's something about Missio's approach to electronic-tinged rock that plays well in Boston venues—maybe it's the city's tolerance for bands that refuse to stay in one lane. The encore left people wanting more, which is basically the whole point.

Live Music in Boston
Boston's rock scene has always had room for bands willing to blend genres, and Missio fits naturally into that lineage. The city's venues, from small clubs to mid-size theaters, have historically supported artists who mix synth-pop sensibilities with rock backbone. There's an audience here that appreciates the technical side of production and songwriting, which plays to Missio's strengths. It's a town where indie rock doesn't have to apologize for sounding polished or experimental.
Boston road trip to see Missio?
Stay in the Back Bay neighborhood—it's walkable, lined with brownstones, and positioned between the best dining and the waterfront. Book a table at No. 9 Park for New American cooking that actually justifies the hype, or hit Oleana in nearby Cambridge if you want something fresher and less fussy. Spend an afternoon at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, a genuinely strange and rewarding art collection housed in a deliberately eccentric mansion. The Prudential Center has decent shopping if that's your thing, and the waterfront is legitimately beautiful for a walk before the show.
