About La Dispute
La Dispute formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2004, building a reputation as one of the most intellectually restless bands in post-hardcore. They're known for their literary, often poetic approach to songwriting—vocalist Jordan Dreyer's lyrics frequently explore philosophy, morality, and personal conflict with unusual depth. Their 2010 album Wildlife became a landmark in the genre, filled with intricate arrangements and songs that build from whispered verses to cathartic climaxes. They've never settled into a single sound, each album revealing new territories: the sprawling concept work of Rooms of the House, the more direct rock approach of Hunger on Hopelessness.
