About Journey
Journey formed in San Francisco in 1973 as a prog-rock fusion band before pivoting to stadium rock in the late 70s. They hit their commercial peak in the 1980s with Steve Perry's soaring vocals anchoring albums like Escape and Frontiers. Don't Stop Believin' became an inescapable anthem—the kind of song that transcends its era and shows up at weddings, sports events, and karaoke bars forever. Their knack for constructing songs with genuine emotional arcs, not just catchy hooks, kept them relevant through the 80s. The band broke up in the early 90s, reunited, fractured again over creative and legal disputes, and has cycled through lineup changes. They remain a cultural fixture regardless, their music permanently woven into the fabric of accessible rock radio.
Crowds sing along to every word. The band locks into a tight groove, letting songs breathe. Perry era shows were stadium events; current iterations maintain the spectacle. People lose it when Faithfully hits.

Journey + Milwaukee
Journey rolled through Fiserv Forum in March 2022, and they went deep into their catalog beyond the usual suspects. Sure, they hit "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Any Way You Want It," but what stuck was "Ask the Lonely" and "Chain Reaction" — songs that reminded you why people actually cared about Journey in the first place. They bracketed the night with "Only the Young" up front and closed it out proper, letting the band stretch across two guitar solos and a piano moment that gave the whole thing breathing room. Milwaukee's seen plenty of arena rock nostalgia tours, but this one felt like they actually remembered how to play.

Live Music in Milwaukee
Milwaukee's music identity runs deep in blues, soul, and classic rock — think Cream, Al Green, and The Violent Femmes all called the city home or spent formative years here. The city's venues, from intimate clubs to the Fiserv Forum, have hosted everyone from legacy acts to emerging talent. Journey fits naturally into Milwaukee's appetite for guitar-driven rock and arena spectacle.
Milwaukee road trip to see Journey?
Stay in Whitefish Bay or the East Side — quieter, tree-lined neighborhoods with actual character. Dinner at Colectivo's sister restaurant Odd Duck for inventive local cooking, or hit up Uchi if you want something more refined. Spend your day at the Harley-Davidson Museum if you're into American icons, or walk through the Milwaukee Public Market for the best cross-section of local food producers. The lakefront is worth an afternoon, and if blues is the point of the trip, catch a set at Colectivo or one of the Walnut Street venues while you're in town.
