About Foxy Shazam
Foxy Shazam is the stage persona of Kevin Stephen Fisher, a theatrical hard rock performer who emerged from the late 70s glam scene with an aesthetic somewhere between David Bowie and Alice Cooper on a genuinely unhinged budget. Built on genuine technical guitar work and an almost operatic command of melodrama, Foxy's catalog treats rock music like it's meant to be performed in costumes made of sequins, confidence, and pure spite. His tracks often build from genuine rock foundations—solid riffs, actual hooks—into these elaborately absurd narratives. "Hello" became his closest brush with mainstream recognition, but tracks like "Winter Song" and "The Ballad of Foxy Shazam" are where you find the core appeal: music that takes itself seriously enough to have real musicianship, not seriously enough to avoid looking completely ridiculous on stage. He's been making variations on this formula for decades, and the formula works because it's honest.
Foxy shows are theater productions where the music actually matters. Expect costumes, visible sweat, a guy who will make eye contact, and an audience that's either fully committed or awkwardly amused. No irony. Just commitment.

Foxy Shazam + Cleveland
Foxy Shazam's relationship with Cleveland runs deep—this is a band that understands theatrical rock in a city that built its reputation on it. Their June 2025 show at Grog Shop felt like a homecoming of sorts, running through a setlist that mixed the anthemic with the exploratory. They opened strong with 'Yes! Yes! Yes!' and 'Killin' It,' but the real meat came in the deeper cuts: 'Seagulls Over Rhinosouras Bay Part II' and 'Ghost Animals' showed a band unafraid to venture into weirder territory, while 'The Rocketeer' landed as the kind of soaring closer that reminded everyone why they came. Fourteen songs in, they left it all on the Grog Shop stage, a venue that's always appreciated bands willing to commit fully to their vision.

Live Music in Cleveland
Cleveland's got a complicated relationship with theatrical rock—it's the city that gave us the Flaming Lips' spiritual cousins and understands that rock doesn't have to be serious to be serious. The local scene has always had space for bands that treat performance like an actual event, not just a thing that happens on stage. Foxy Shazam fits naturally into that lineage, part of a broader tradition of artists who refuse to separate ambition from absurdity.

Stay in Ohio City, where Victorian brownstones meet serious coffee shops and galleries. Dinner at Fairmount, where chef Jonathon Sawyer sources locally and cooks with real technique—expect seasonal American food that doesn't announce itself. Spend an afternoon at the Cleveland Museum of Art, which is free and genuinely excellent. Walk through the West Side Market before the show, grab something you don't need, and feel the bones of the city. The whole neighborhood has that working-class dignity that makes Cleveland distinct.
