About Foo Fighters
Dave Grohl started Foo Fighters in 1995 as a one-man project after leaving Nirvana, recording the entire first album alone in his basement. What began as a solo catharsis became one of rock's most reliable stadium bands. They've spent nearly three decades hammering out anthems that somehow manage to be both massive and genuinely felt—songs like Everlong and The Pretender hit different in a crowd. Grohl's approach has always been straightforward: write big hooks, play them louder, and mean every second of it. They're not reinventing anything, but they're weirdly good at making stadium rock feel earnest when a lot of bands make it feel hollow. Multiple Grammys, multiple eras, multiple lineup changes, but the core mission stays the same.
Foo Fighters shows are the opposite of ironic. Grohl treats every gig like it matters—the band plays for hours, and crowds sing back every word. You get a sense people came specifically for this, not just because they were in town. High energy, no cynicism.

Foo Fighters + Cleveland
Foo Fighters have always known how to work a Cleveland crowd. When they rolled through Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in October 2021, they kept things lean but essential. Opening with "Best of You" and cycling through "My Hero" and "Everlong" — the songs that built their reputation — they also threw in "Get Back" and closed the main set with "Walk," a track that sits somewhere between their early angst and their later arena-rock confidence. Five songs might seem sparse, but in the context of what they were doing that night, it felt purposeful, like they understood exactly what this city needed to hear.

Live Music in Cleveland
Cleveland's rock lineage runs deep, and the city has always been hospitable to the kind of guitar-driven alternative rock that Foo Fighters helped define. The DNA here traces back through the Replacements and Sonic Youth, but also through homegrown acts like Chrissie Hynde and the Black Keys. There's a no-nonsense attitude to how Cleveland listens to rock — they want substance over spectacle, and they'll call you on it if you're phoning it in. Foo Fighters fit that sensibility perfectly.
Cleveland road trip to see Foo Fighters?
Stay in Ohio City, where Victorian brownstones meet serious coffee shops and galleries. Dinner at Fairmount, where chef Jonathon Sawyer sources locally and cooks with real technique—expect seasonal American food that doesn't announce itself. Spend an afternoon at the Cleveland Museum of Art, which is free and genuinely excellent. Walk through the West Side Market before the show, grab something you don't need, and feel the bones of the city. The whole neighborhood has that working-class dignity that makes Cleveland distinct.
