About Dru Hill
Dru Hill emerged from Baltimore in the mid-90s as one of the defining voices of New Jack Swing R&B. The group—Mark "Sisqó" Andrews, Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin, Larry "Jazz" Anthony, and James "Woody" Green—built their reputation on smooth harmonies and emotionally direct ballads. "In My Bed" became their signature track, a song that basically defined late-night 90s radio. They followed it with "We're Not Making Love No More," which proved they weren't one-hit wonders. Their self-titled 1996 debut sold millions and made them regulars on MTV and BET. Sisqó eventually broke out as a solo artist with "Thong Song," but Dru Hill remained relevant through lineup changes and sporadic reunions. They represented a specific moment when R&B groups could still dominate pop radio without compromising their sound.
Dru Hill shows feature a lot of singing along to those major hits—the crowd knows every word to the ballads. Energy is more controlled than chaotic, with people genuinely lost in the nostalgia. Tight harmonies translate well live. Sisqó appearances boost the vibe considerably.

Dru Hill + Charlotte
Dru Hill's connection to Charlotte runs deep in the city's R&B DNA. The Baltimore legends last touched down at PNC Music Pavilion in July 2023, bringing their signature smooth harmonies to a packed crowd. They ran through the hits that defined the late 90s and early 2000s—"In My Bed," "How Deep Is Your Love"—each song landing exactly where it needed to. The group's ability to move between buttery ballads and groove-heavy tracks showed why they've stayed relevant across three decades. Charlotte's always been receptive to that East Coast R&B sensibility, and Dru Hill clearly understood the room.

Live Music in Charlotte
Charlotte's R&B scene has historically looked north to the Baltimore-DC corridor for inspiration, and Dru Hill sits right at that intersection. The city's developed a solid foundation of soul and R&B venues over the years, from intimate clubs to larger pavilions. There's an audience here that respects the old guard—artists who built the genre rather than just rode its trends. Dru Hill fits that mold perfectly, speaking to folks who grew up on their records and younger listeners discovering them now.
