About Dru Hill
Dru Hill emerged from Baltimore in the mid-90s as one of the defining voices of New Jack Swing R&B. The group—Mark "Sisqó" Andrews, Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin, Larry "Jazz" Anthony, and James "Woody" Green—built their reputation on smooth harmonies and emotionally direct ballads. "In My Bed" became their signature track, a song that basically defined late-night 90s radio. They followed it with "We're Not Making Love No More," which proved they weren't one-hit wonders. Their self-titled 1996 debut sold millions and made them regulars on MTV and BET. Sisqó eventually broke out as a solo artist with "Thong Song," but Dru Hill remained relevant through lineup changes and sporadic reunions. They represented a specific moment when R&B groups could still dominate pop radio without compromising their sound.
Dru Hill shows feature a lot of singing along to those major hits—the crowd knows every word to the ballads. Energy is more controlled than chaotic, with people genuinely lost in the nostalgia. Tight harmonies translate well live. Sisqó appearances boost the vibe considerably.

Dru Hill + Atlanta
Dru Hill's relationship with Atlanta runs deep, rooted in the city's golden age of '90s R&B. The Baltimore quartet has always found a receptive audience here, where smooth harmonies and intricate arrangements were currency. Their October 27, 2024 set at Piedmont Park proved the staying power of their catalog—fans sang along to every word of 'In My Bed' and 'We're Not Making Love No More,' those songs that defined a generation's slow jams. The group moved through their hits with the kind of ease that comes from decades of doing this right, their voices still hitting those impossible runs that made them legends in the first place. Atlanta crowds know quality R&B when they hear it.

Live Music in Atlanta
Atlanta's R&B scene has always been its own thing—less about the slick East Coast production that made Dru Hill famous, more about a rawer, funkier sensibility that emerged from the city's hip-hop dominance. But there's respect here for groups who came before, who laid the groundwork for what R&B could be. Dru Hill represents a specific lineage: harmony-driven, technically precise, unapologetically sentimental. In a city where Usher and OutKast redefined the genre, the classics still matter.
Atlanta road trip to see Dru Hill?
Stay in Buckhead or Virginia Highland for the neighborhood feel — tree-lined streets, good restaurants, walkable enough to actually enjoy yourself. For dinner, Sotto Sotto does excellent Italian in a no-fuss basement setting, or Rathbun's for steak if you want something more formal. Spend an afternoon at the High Museum of Art, then grab drinks at The Eagle, which has the kind of dark-wood-and-whiskey vibe that actually works. Catch a Braves game at Truist Park if timing lines up. The food scene here is legitimately good without being try-hard about it.
