About Drain
Drain is a Sacramento hardcore band that emerged in the early 2010s, carving out a reputation for visceral, unpolished aggression. They build their sound on blown-out guitars and vocals that hover between shouting and singing, creating something that sounds deliberately uncomfortable. Their music trades in anxiety and alienation—songs like Honey and Leeches capture a kind of paranoid intensity that feels less like catharsis and more like documenting actual distress. They've become a fixture in underground hardcore circles, known for refusing to sand down their edges or compromise their aesthetic for wider appeal. Their approach to songwriting prioritizes texture and mood over traditional structure, which means their songs often feel like they're barely holding together, in the best way.
Drain shows are tense, physical affairs. The crowd clusters tight and unforgiving. There's minimal stage presence—just raw noise and visible strain from the band. People leave soaked and bruised.

Drain + Las Vegas
Drain touched down at Las Vegas Festival Grounds in October 2025, bringing their brand of straightforward hardcore to the desert. The band worked through a set that leaned into the driving, no-frills aesthetic that's become their signature—the kind of show where the room feels smaller than it actually is because everyone's locked in. They moved through their material with the kind of efficiency that suggests they've played this set enough times to know exactly what lands, and what doesn't. The encore probably felt less like a concession and more like a natural conclusion to something that needed to end exactly when it did.

Live Music in Las Vegas
Las Vegas tends to orbit around spectacle and entertainment, which makes hardcore's stripped-down ethos feel almost rebellious by comparison. The city's underground music scene exists somewhat apart from the Strip's gravitational pull, with venues and audiences more interested in substance than production value. Bands like Drain fit here because they're after the same thing as the people who show up to see them: clarity, conviction, and no bullshit.
Las Vegas road trip to see Drain?
Stay in The Arts District if you want to feel like you're actually in a city rather than a resort. The neighborhood has real restaurants and galleries, plus it's close to Downtown Vegas, which has actual bars with character. For dinner, Carnevino in the Palazzo does excellent beef if you want upscale without pretension. Spend an afternoon at the Neon Museum—it's Vegas history stripped of artifice, just old signs and the stories behind them. Walk the Vegas Strip at night if you haven't in years; it's changed enough to be interesting.
