About Caamp
Caamp is Taylor Meier and Jack Lubbock, an Ohio-based indie folk duo making understated, warm songs that sound like they were written in a basement somewhere and accidentally became essential. Their music sits in that space between Americana and bedroom pop, all fingerpicked guitars and Meier's conversational vocal delivery. They built their following the old way—playing everywhere, releasing music without fuss, letting the songs speak. Their self-titled debut and follow-ups are filled with the kind of songs that don't announce themselves but settle into your brain anyway. They're not trying to be profound or save the world. They're just two guys writing about regular things in a way that makes you pay attention.
Caamp shows are intimate even in bigger rooms. Crowds lean in, quiet down, actually listen. Meier and Lubbock play like they're in your living room, no pretense. People sing along to every word. The energy is low-key but genuinely connected.

Caamp + Washington DC
Caamp rolled into The Anthem on June 21, 2025, delivering a set that felt both familiar and genuinely lived-in. They opened with "All the Debts I Owe" and spent the next two hours moving through their catalog with the ease of a band that knows exactly what they're doing. "Snowshoes" and "Wolf Song" hit different in a packed DC room, those folk-country arrangements landing hard enough to quiet the crowd entirely. By the time they got to "Peach Fuzz" midway through, it was clear this wasn't a greatest-hits tour—they were digging into their actual repertoire, playing stuff that mattered to them. They closed with "Going to the Country," which feels right for a band that's never pretended to be anything other than what they are.

Live Music in Washington DC
Washington DC has a long history of folk and Americana acts finding their footing in smaller venues before moving up. The city's live music infrastructure—spots like The Anthem included—has always attracted touring acts in that singer-songwriter and indie-folk space. There's an audience here that appreciates the un-slick, un-processed approach to country music that Caamp represents. The city gravitates toward musicians who seem to actually care about the songs rather than the production around them.
Washington DC road trip to see Caamp?
Stay in Georgetown or Capitol Hill, both walkable neighborhoods with excellent restaurants and bars. Book a table at Kinfolk in Capitol Hill for refined New American cooking, or head to Pineapple and Pearls for something more elaborate if you want to splurge. During the day, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden offers world-class contemporary art without the crowds of the main Smithsonians. Walk the C&O Canal towpath if the weather cooperates. Hit up one of the city's serious record shops like Smash! Records before the show.
