About Caamp
Caamp is Taylor Meier and Jack Lubbock, an Ohio-based indie folk duo making understated, warm songs that sound like they were written in a basement somewhere and accidentally became essential. Their music sits in that space between Americana and bedroom pop, all fingerpicked guitars and Meier's conversational vocal delivery. They built their following the old way—playing everywhere, releasing music without fuss, letting the songs speak. Their self-titled debut and follow-ups are filled with the kind of songs that don't announce themselves but settle into your brain anyway. They're not trying to be profound or save the world. They're just two guys writing about regular things in a way that makes you pay attention.
Caamp shows are intimate even in bigger rooms. Crowds lean in, quiet down, actually listen. Meier and Lubbock play like they're in your living room, no pretense. People sing along to every word. The energy is low-key but genuinely connected.

Caamp + Austin
Caamp rolled through Moody Amphitheater in May 2025 with the kind of setlist that rewards the people who've been paying attention. They opened with "Let Things Go" and spent the next two hours moving between the obvious moves and the deeper stuff—"Huckleberry Love" and "Fairview Feeling" landed somewhere in the middle of the set, songs that hit different when you're not expecting them. "Apple Tree Blues" and "Wolf Song" showed up too, the kind of tracks that don't get the streaming numbers but feel essential live. They closed with "Come With Me Now," which seemed to be exactly where they wanted to leave everyone. Austin's been a regular stop for them, and this show felt like a band that knows the room.

Live Music in Austin
Austin's folk and Americana scene has always had room for bands like Caamp—artists who blur the line between country storytelling and indie rock sensibility. The city's venues, from amphitheaters down to intimate clubs, have fostered a culture where acoustic-leaning acts thrive alongside everything else. It's the kind of place where you can hear mountain music influences mixed with a distinctly modern production sensibility, which is exactly Caamp's lane.
Austin road trip to see Caamp?
Stay in East Austin, where you'll find better restaurants and a neighborhood that actually feels alive. Dinner at Suerte—confident, creative food in a space that doesn't try too hard. During the day, wander the galleries and vintage shops along East 6th, or head to Zilker Park to sit with a coffee and watch Austin be itself. If you've got time, catch live music at Mohawk or Hotel Vegas—smaller rooms where you can see how Austin's songwriting community actually operates. The city's best asset isn't any single thing; it's the density of good people doing interesting work.
