About Big Boi
Big Boi is one half of OutKast, the Atlanta hip-hop duo that basically redefined southern rap in the 1990s. While André 3000 pursued the weirder, more experimental lane, Big Boi kept things grounded in funk and soul—producing some of the group's most infectious tracks. "The Way You Move" became a crossover hit that somehow made the club and the alternative radio work in tandem. Beyond OutKast, he's released solo albums that showcase his production skills and knack for finding the pocket in any beat. He's the kind of rapper who makes it look effortless, with a delivery that's conversational but precise. His work with Organized Noize shaped the sound of an entire region and generation.
Big Boi brings actual joy to the stage. Crowds lose it for the OutKast classics—everyone's rapping along to "Rosa Parks." He's energetic without being exhausting, and clearly enjoys being there. The band is tight.
Known for The Way You Move, Elevators (Me & You), ATLiens, Aquemini, Rosa Parks
Big Boi + Phoenix
Big Boi brought a massive 17-song set to Tempe Beach Park in Phoenix on February 22, 2026, and it was an OutKast retrospective in the best possible way. He opened with "ATLiens" and "Rosa Parks" before working through solo cuts like "Kill Jill" and "Shutterbugg." The deep reach into "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" and "Player's Ball" rewarded the longtime fans. "Elevators (Me & You)" hit different outdoors, and he closed the run with "The Way You Move," "Kryptonite," and "International Players Anthem." Phoenix got the full catalog treatment -- solo material and OutKast classics woven together seamlessly.

Live Music in Phoenix
Phoenix has never been a hip-hop capital, but it's got a solid underground scene that respects craft and longevity. The city tends to show up for artists with real résumés rather than hype cycles, which plays to Big Boi's strength—he's been consistently good for thirty years. That's the kind of thing Phoenix notices.
Phoenix road trip to see Big Boi?
Stay in Arcadia, where tree-lined streets and restored Craftsman homes give you actual neighborhood texture instead of generic sprawl. Eat at Otro, where the cooking is precise without being pretentious. Hit the Heard Museum if you want to understand what Arizona actually is beneath the tourism layer. Hike Camelback Mountain early morning before the heat makes it punishing. Spend an afternoon at Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home, which feels oddly fitting for a band that cares about emotional architecture. The whole city slows down at sunset in a way that makes Dashboard's introspection feel less like melancholy and more like clarity.
